Enslaved in Nelson County until after the Civil War, Lucy Ann Jackson lived to be more than 100 years old.  Initially enslaved on the county’s Rhodes Plantation, Lucy Ann was later sent to a plantation owned by Colonel James Harris, whose family was one of the original settlers of Nelson County.
